HardelPly shiplap plywood siding is listed for use as exterior wall siding and sheathing in California wildfire areas.
The official CAL FIRE listing is BML 8140-2303:0500, tested under SFM 12-7A-1. The September 2025 WUI handbook includes the product, and the live Building Materials Listing on August 25, 2026, showed it active through June 30, 2027.
The approval applies to a defined assembly, not every plywood panel sold under a similar name. The siding must be at least a nominal 19/32 inch thick, with Okoume hardwood face and back veneers and a Douglas Fir veneer core and center lines. Panels are 4 by 8 feet or taller and may have no grooves or grooves spaced at least 4 inches on center.
Installation is also part of the listing: 2-by-4-inch studs at 16 inches on center, 7/16-inch exterior OSB sheathing, and fasteners to studs every 6 inches at panel edges and 12 inches in the field. Specification should therefore match the exact listed product and construction details.
