The rule

Available for local adoption “Deck, porch and balcony walking surfaces located greater than 30 inches (762 mm) and less than 12 feet (3658 mm) above grade or the surface below shall be constructed with one of the following materials: 4. Noncombustible material.”

ORSC R327 noncombustible deck surface. Where locally adopted, Oregon R327 includes noncombustible material as one path for deck, porch, and balcony walking surfaces in the section's height band.

  • Voluntary program IBHS Plus solid deck surface — The current IBHS Plus retrofit path specifies a solid noncombustible deck walking surface with no gaps.
