Campsis

Trumpet vines have mixed fire guidance, including a source disagreement over trumpet creeper and an unfavorable recommendation for Chinese trumpet vine.

Valencia's low-flammability gardening guide includes trumpet creeper (Campsis radicans) among recommended climbing plants. North Carolina's 2005 Firewise Landscaping publication instead gives it an extreme-flammability rating; the successor Fire-Resistant Landscaping in North Carolina places it in the high-flammability table. The regional sources disagree about trumpet creeper; Both North Carolina publications retain an unfavorable judgment.

Chinese trumpet vine (Campsis grandiflora) is a different species. Girona's 2020 gardening guide marks it not recommended using a garden-suitability method that considers fire evidence alongside fuel structure, maintenance and other horticultural factors. The favorable Valencia selection of trumpet creeper does not extend to Chinese trumpet vine.

Campsis is a genus of vines in the Bignoniaceae family. A plant label needs the species name to distinguish the two choices, and the source location remains part of the recommendation: even an exact match to trumpet creeper leads to opposing published advice.
