New York's 2025 Uniform Code, effective 31 December 2025, runs eight books deep — residential through existing-building — and none of them is a wildfire interface code. Wildfire remains a national-baseline matter here, and what applies to your house takes it from the top.

The municipal wildfire layer is unsourced; what we can't tell you yet keeps that short and true.

The Empire State's plant file is among the largest: 715 records documented across USDA half-zones 4a through 7b, with 190 flagged invasive or noxious. Living here is where to dig.

What applies in New York

New York does not adopt a statewide WUI construction book. The 2025 Uniform Code books, effective 31 December 2025, are the Residential, Building, Plumbing, Mechanical, Fuel Gas, Fire, Property Maintenance, and Existing Building Codes of New York State, plus rail-station provisions. IWUIC is not on that list. Confirm with the building official.
