The historical 8110-2212:0500 description requires boards at least 7/8 inch thick and at least 5-1/2 inches wide. Both size minimums apply together, while edge-to-edge spacing must not exceed 1/8 inch. An attached wall must carry exterior covering made from noncombustible or ignition-resistant material.
SFM 12-7A-4A is the handbook's named protocol; ASTM E84 was not conducted. The manufacturer's installation instructions and product data sheets remain part of the construction review, with the grooved-edge profile, both minimum dimensions and maximum gap retained together.
