WUI doors versus 20-minute fire doors Last verified 2026-08-27.
A 20-minute fire door is not automatically a wildfire door. OSFM category 8150 is California’s BML bucket for exterior doors in the WUI . Oregon R327 .3.6 covers glazed doors and skylights , not a solid swinging leaf. A listing is not a permit.
You are holding a 20-minute tag and an 8150 handbook row. Those tests can share a number and still not be the same job.
The doors category is the catalog. This page is the word swap. Do not use a house-level hub graphic as a door leaf.
Why it matters
Interior fire-door tests look at room-to-room fire. WUI listings look at embers and flame on the exterior assembly . Swapping them specs the wrong hole. Garage weatherstrip is a third object.

California CWUIC mapped fire hazard areas CWUIC 504.9 keeps noncombustible, thick solid-core wood, NFPA 252/UL 10 20-minute, ASTM E2707, and SFM 12-7A-1 exterior-door paths separate. A current OSFM 8150 listing can document a tested product path, but the code does not make the voluntary catalog the only path. Glazing, frame, hardware, perimeter gaps, installation, map, project, local amendments, and official approval remain checks.

Questions Is a 20-minute fire door a WUI door? Not by itself. Some 8150 listings cite NFPA 252 or a 20-minute rating. That is a fire-door test. WUI 8150 rows can also address ember and flame exposure of the exterior assembly. Read the listing. Do not swap the two.
Does Oregon R327 list solid entry doors? R327.3.6 names exterior windows, windows within exterior doors, and skylights. Glazed doors share that menu. A solid swinging leaf is not that subsection. Confirm the adopted code with the official.
Do I need 8150 in Oregon? Listing is usually voluntary. Deschutes accepts handbook products when they are shown on the drawings. Absence from 8150 is not an automatic ban.
