Glazed doors follow the window rules: where Oregon R327 is adopted, exterior windows, glazed doors and skylights share R327.3.6 and multilayered glazing is one path, while California CWUIC wants at least one tempered pane or a listed assembly. Solid doors are the other object: California's OSFM category 8150 lists door assemblies by model, some citing NFPA 252 or a 20-minute rating, and IBHS Wildfire Prepared treats the garage door as an ember path.

What makes a door a fire-rated door?

A fire-door rating (NFPA 252, a 20-minute rating) is a test of the door assembly in a fire-rated wall. A wildfire door listing in OSFM category 8150 can also address ember and flame exposure of the assembly. They are different tests; the listing says which the model carries.

Is there a 2 hour fire rated door?

Two-hour ratings exist for fire doors in rated interior separations. The wildfire books on this site set glazing paths for glazed doors and, in California, a listed 8150 assembly for solid ones; a two-hour figure comes from a different test for a different wall.

Do dual-pane sliding glass doors satisfy Oregon R327?

Where R327 is adopted, exterior windows, glazed doors, and skylights share R327.3.6. Multilayered glazed panels are one path. That is not California WUI glazing. Confirm with the building official.

Do I need an OSFM listed entry door in Oregon?

OSFM listing is a California program and is voluntary for most WUI products. Deschutes County says it will accept products from the OSFM WUI handbook when those products are shown on the drawings. That is local practice.

Is a 20-minute fire door the same as a WUI door?

No. Some 8150 listings cite NFPA 252 or a 20-minute rating. That is a fire-door test. WUI door listings can also address ember and flame exposure of the assembly. Read the listing. Do not swap the two.

Does garage-door weatherstrip count?

IBHS Wildfire Prepared treats garage doors as an ember path. Weatherstrip and no pet doors are the usual checklist items. That is a designation, not Oregon R327. This page is not a garage-door catalog.

Can I keep a solid wood front door?

Adopted code and the building official decide. Absence from OSFM 8150 is not an automatic ban. Presence on the handbook is not an automatic permit.
