This vent carries 2 listings. FP2011 is the 2-inch round soffit and under-eave model in OSFM 8165-2232:0501 and ICC-ES ESL-1689. The July 2026 ICC report describes ASTM E2886 testing in both orientations; that test scope does not replace the older published OSFM vertical-only installation condition described in the specification notes.

The attribute table records mesh at 0.0625 inch, but the manufacturer’s sheet also prints another mesh dimension. The specification notes preserve that discrepancy and the roof-overhang, blocking and installation requirements. Specification notes

OSFM’s certificate issued May 2024 and expiring June 2025 specified vertical-only FP2011 installation. The current BML renewal names FP2011. July 2026 ESL-1689 reports vertical and horizontal tests; these do not replace OSFM installation conditions. A mesh screen alone is a different path.
FP2011 requires a protective roof overhang and insertion into 2-by blocking or frieze block, with the T marking at the top. The spec sheet excludes an unprotected sidewall. Match the 2-inch opening, mesh, closure material, flange and manufacturer installation instructions.
For retrofitting, BrandGuard directs a vinegar wipe, metal primer and exterior paint on faceplate and screws; let dry fully in the sun. Put exterior-approved clear caulk with at least a 20-year warranty behind and around the flange. Insert using a woodblock and hammer, T upward; pre-drill into soffit wood and use product-appropriate screws.
ESL-1689 observed cotton-target smoldering during ember testing, but no flaming ignition. Direct-flame integrity testing produced no cotton-target ignition; unexposed-surface temperatures met the specified ASTM E2912 time/temperature requirements. These findings do not mean zero heat or ember exposure.
The FP2011 sheet gives a 1/16-inch mesh plate under Benefits but .025 × .025 galvanized wire mesh under Standard Materials. The OSFM handbook and ESL-1689 give 1/16 inch. These source values remain unresolved; do not substitute one for the other or infer a replacement mesh.
ESL-1689 applies to submitted, tested materials under ASTM E2886 and requires manufacturer instructions and local authority conditions. It includes an intumescent strip. BrandGuard’s noncombustible-metal description does not classify the complete vent under ASTM E136.
