Inside an ember-rated vent: baffle path vs straight-through

Two equal vent cutaways compare a generic straight-through screened opening with one documented interleaved-baffle configuration. The first gives air and particles a direct path. The second makes air take a right-angle, Z-shaped, right-angle route and provides a low settling pocket. The baffle is an example after U.S. Patent 8,684,803, not a universal vent interior or proof of listing.
