IBHS Wildfire Prepared Home Base six-inch wall-base clearance

The current IBHS Base standard specifies at least six vertical inches of noncombustible material at the base of exterior walls.

A product can address the material and height attributes. Continuity, transitions, ground clearance, drainage, attachment, and the nearest horizontal surface must be checked on the building.

“All exterior walls shall have at least 6-inches of noncombustible material applied vertically on the base of the wall measured from the ground at grade and the nearest horizontal surface.”
