Cassia
Cassia plants are not uniformly fire resistant, so the species name matters more than the genus name.
Among four assessed species, Argentine senna is rated fire resistant, apple blossom is rated keep away, and the sources did not take a side on the other two.
The opposing verdicts each rest on a single listing, so neither supports a broad claim about all cassias. Argentine senna, or Cassia corymbosa, has the resistant finding. Apple blossom, or Cassia javanica, has the warning. These findings do not cancel each other out; they apply to different species. They also leave two assessed species without a verdict either way.
Cassias belong to the family Fabaceae and are grown as shrubs and trees. Golden shower and senna are also members of the genus. A label that says only “cassia” therefore does not answer the fire-resistance question. Check the species name, especially to distinguish apple blossom, the member rated keep away, from Argentine senna, the member rated fire resistant.
Fire-resistant: 1 species
Keep away: 1 species
Awaiting evidence: 2 species
